Area Coordinator/DSP

 

Reports to: QDDP/Case Manager 

 

Job Overview

  • The Area Coordinator /DSP are assigned a caseload of individuals and are often the families/individuals supported most familiar contact. The Area Coordinator will advocate in family home settings for the best possible outcomes and life experiences. This is a full-time benefited position.  The Area Coordinator/DSP will be scheduled for 15 hours administrative work and 25 hours direct support a week.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Serves as the direct contact person for family/guardians regarding concerns and the daily needs of the individuals. This would include all emergencies and general contact at a minimum of monthly.
  • Provides home/on-the-job training for the DSPs.
  • Provides in-home expertise and ongoing modeling for Direct Service Professionals regarding methods, strategies, and techniques relative to OSP implementation.
  • Organizes regular household huddles to keep all staff up to date on changes and information – reporting monthly to the QDDP
  • Program: Manages the day to day needs of the individuals on the assigned caseload to assure quality in overall service delivery (this can range from medical appointments, scheduling, attending meetings, etc.)
  • Attends all required meetings as requested by QDDP/Director of Services.
  • Work with QDDP to complete necessary paperwork to complete the overall service plan meetings. (This can include assisting with meeting prep, compiling data, taking notes at the meeting, typing/updating documents).
  • Compiling data checks and entering the information into our system with quality checks from the QDDP. This will include reviewing daily documentation and consumer objectives/case notes.
  • Medication Management (writing medications on MAR, prepackaging medications, calls to the pharmacy, and continuation of being Med-Certified.)
  • Scheduling
  • Completes and updates General Events Reports, including completion of a monthly environmental scan and any additional required follow-up, as assigned.
  • Participates in internal investigations as requested.
  • Assisting with Financial and Socioeconomic Paperwork; Personal Spending- Monthly Budget/Balance Sheets, SNAP Benefits, Medicaid Applications, etc.
  • Participates in on-call rotation as scheduled.
  • Reports and works with HR regarding any staffing issues and assists in staff evaluations annually.
  • Ensure necessary staff coverage in the event it is needed and necessary to maintain weekly hours, consumer illness, school closings, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • At least five years’ experience working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • ND developmental disability certification within the first 6 months
  • Time management skills and ability to organize workload.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential in this position.
  • Experience with implementing behavioral support and personal objectives.
  • Working knowledge of the medical, psychological, social, and educational aspects of working with people with disabilities.
  • Obtains and retains certification as a CPR/AED, First Aid and Therapeutic Response

 

The ideal candidate must have:

· Valid Driver’s license

· Pass background check

· Able to work in homes with pets (cats and dogs )

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $18.00-$22.00 per hour D.O.E.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Thursday 10:30am -7:30pm and Friday 830am -4:30pm with  an occasional weekend
  • On call

Work Location: In person

 

Compensation

$18-$22 D.O.E. per hour
