Encompass Family Support Services is adding to our TEAM – we are hiring Area Coordinators for our Fargo and Valley City Locations
Position Summary
The Area Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operational oversight of assigned service areas, ensuring services are delivered safely, consistently, and in compliance with all organizational and licensing requirements.
This role serves as the operational leader supporting Program Coordinators and QDDPs by bridging service planning and service delivery. Through a shared oversight model, the Area Coordinator ensures strong staff performance, effective communication, and high-quality outcomes for people supported.

Key Responsibilities
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, licensing standards, and service authorizations
- Monitor and address operational risks, incidents, and reportable events
- Complete and review General Event Reports, including follow-up and environmental assessments
- Participate in internal investigations as requested
- Support audit readiness and successful licensing reviews
- Other duties as assigned
Service Oversight & Operational Excellence
- Oversee daily service operations to ensure services are delivered as scheduled and authorized
- Manage the day-to-day needs of individuals receiving services to ensure quality outcomes
- Ensure alignment between service plans, documentation, and service delivery
- Identify operational gaps and implement solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness
Staffing, Scheduling & Coverage
- Develop and maintain staff schedules to ensure consistent coverage
- Address call-offs, staffing shortages, and coverage gaps, including working direct care when necessary
- Ensure staff assignments align with training, competencies, and individual needs
Supervision, Culture & Employee Experience
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance feedback to DSPs and Family Coordinators
- Conduct performance evaluations and address performance concerns
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and teamwork
- Organize and lead team meetings (household huddles) to ensure communication and alignment
Training Reinforcement & Staff Development
- Reinforce training through hands-on coaching and in-the-moment support
- Model best practices in service delivery and person-centered supports
- Identify training gaps and collaborate with HR and QDDPs to address needs
- Maintain required certifications (CPR/AED, First Aid, Therapeutic Intervention)
Communication, Coordination & Advocacy
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families/guardians regarding daily needs and concerns
- Maintain consistent communication with stakeholders, including at least monthly contact with families
- Collaborate with Program Coordinators, QDDPs, and leadership to ensure coordinated care
- Represent the organization professionally in meetings and community interactions
Documentation & Reporting
- Review documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Ensure documentation supports billing and aligns with service plans
- Communicates and correct documentation concerns with staff
Continuous Quality Improvement & Organizational Alignment
- Monitor trends and identify opportunities for operational improvement
- Participate in quality initiatives, audits, and corrective action planning
- Contribute to organizational alignment, strategic goals, and team cohesion
- Support implementation of new systems, processes, and service models
Day-to-Day Duties
- Supervise DSP performance and complete evaluations
- Update schedules and ensure coverage needs are met
- Work direct care shifts as needed
- Complete and review incident and event documentation
- Lead team meetings and staff communications
- Provide in-home coaching and modeling for DSPs
- Support individuals in accessing and maintaining benefits as needed
- Participate in meetings and represent Encompass as assigned

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with human services or related field
Experience in human services, disability services, or related field
Demonstrated supervisory and organizational skills
Knowledge/expertise of Developmental Disabilities service system and Socioeconomic Systems required
A minimum of 2 years of senior level supervisory and/or management experience required
QDDP module certification preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising DSPs
- Familiarity with licensing or regulatory requirements
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: From $25.00-$30.00 per hour D.O.E.
